Topsfield Exterior Refresh & Front Door Restoration

We recently returned to a beautiful home in Topsfield — a place we painted just two years ago — and we were excited to see how great the exterior still looked. The siding has held up exactly the way it should when it’s prepped properly and finished with premium products. That long-term durability is something we take a lot of pride in.

This visit was all about the front entry. The homeowners asked us to bring new life to their composite double doors, which are designed to be stained and sealed. After roughly a decade of New England sun, they were faded, dull, and overdue for a refresh.

Our Restoration Process

To restore the doors to their original beauty, we followed a careful, multi-step approach:

1. Deep Cleaning with TSP
We started by scrubbing the doors with TSP to remove sun oxidation, surface grime, and any residue that would interfere with a fresh finish.

2. Hand-Rubbed Masters Oil Stain
Once clean and dry, we applied a fresh coat of Masters oil stain using a rag-wipe technique. This method helps the stain blend naturally, even out the color, and bring back that rich, warm tone.

3. Protective Water-Based Polyurethane Coat
We finished by brushing on a durable water-based polyurethane. This protects the stain, adds clarity and sheen, and gives the doors long-term UV protection.

A Clean, Lasting Transformation

The final result brought the entire front entry back to life. The fresh stain and polyurethane tie perfectly into the exterior we painted in 2023, giving the home a polished, well-maintained appearance from the curb.
